I do not wish to start a political / spiritual war here on this website so I have both disabled comments and will be relatively short on why I created this stamp.
I strongly am pro life. I know, it is impossible to rid the world of abortion so I sadly admit I cannot. I will, however, give a brief summery of why I discourage abortion. You could chose to read it or ignore it if you desire, agree or disagree. I am here to mostly inform, not to convince (though it would be nice if you did agree) philosophy Not a freedom of choice: I don't really believe a woman has the choice to say "keep this or not". Her body is her body, however , the baby's body isn't. Right to reproductivity: I know I cannot stop couples from copulation, however, if they become pregnant, I do not believe it is justified to kill the baby (of fetus or clump of cells, whatever you wish to call it) simply because they do not want to handle the child. They knew the "risk" (I do not believe that babies are ever consequences.) so they should be able to accept the "burden." I dislike the use of terns "keeping" the baby, for it sounds like you have complete authority over this individuals existence. (I know kind'a warped but this is a brief summery). But it isn't living: The zygote is technically a clump of cells that are not yet living, as the scientists will say. However, that does not deny the fact that someday that child will be living: if it is kept (that word again). This argument generally denies something "insignificant" of it's eventual life. Recent research has found that differentiation of the embryonic cells begins on the day of conception and may even be initiated by the point of entry of the sperm into the egg.2 When egg and sperm unite, they produce a single new cell, called the zygote, and the zygote is the first cell in the body of the new baby. When the zygote undergoes its first cell division to produce a two-celled embryo, it now appears that these two cells form the top-tail axis for all subsequent development. In other words, which part will be the head, for instance, is determined up front. And similar processes of orientation appear to continue during all subsequent cell divisions. also how are we to determine what is alive and what is not? Victim of rape: People say that it isn't the girl's fault she was raped. I agree, it wasn't her choice to be raped, but it is her choice to rid herself of the child. In my personal belief, a child is never a punishment of someone else's crime- children are blessings. They did nothing wrong, why should they be punished? If I was raped and became pregnant, I'd without second thought keep the baby. He/she is my child. C: Crack baby: So what if the mother does drugs and the baby becomes addicted since birth? People will say it is actually ethical on the baby's side, however, I disagree. I know I cannot stop this, but the mother could just stop smoking (I am very well aware it takes away a woman's freedom to smoke. I know I cannot stop it if it happens but I strongly advise people not to). I'm not prepared: If woman is not prepared to be a mother, give the opportunity to another women. In a recently filed report (National Conservative Weekly), 1.5 women [20% women] in the United States are unable to adopt even though they want to. Many woman, even those who wish to keep their baby, may be unable to care for the child emotionally / physically / financially, ect. However, they chose to give their child to a different woman because they can give the child the safe and supported environment they deserve. By giving up their child they give everything to their child, says Mark Schultz (Singer, was adopted when a baby) . I would like to also point out that women will say "It is my body, it is my right". however I also must disagree with that claim. Once fertilized the egg plants itself into the uterus and is constantly views as a foreign object to the body. In other words, not at all a part of the female body even if it originated or dwells within her uterus. Recent research has shown that the developing child puts up a very specific defense against the killer T cell attack. And as long as the defense mechanism works properly, the pregnancy will proceed to full term. Too keep the T cells from attacking, the embryo will release a chemical known as IDO (indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase). IDO calms the body's immune system and causes it to instead, nurture the fetus. The child was never apart of the womans body and never will be. Health Risks: People will argue keeping a baby will cause problems for the mother physically. If she has a disease, and the baby could die from it and kill her in the process, they might as well eliminate the "threat"so the woman could live. I'm probably most sensitive to this subject, however, I still have to oppose. Many children have been born from diseased mothers, whether carrying the disease themselves or not. Unable to support: It is also argued that if her body cannot support the baby she should get an abortion to protect herself. However if a woman is unable to care for a baby, much less care for her own child, she should not be having her period, and if she does it is most likely unhealthy and unable to conceive The chances of her becoming noticeably pregnant are slim: if the body cannot support the baby, it will die off in an early state (being zygote.) The woman would perhaps not even know she was pregnant because she would have her period according to track. Pregnancy Pains: During pregnancy, a woman will feel severe pain. She will have back cramps, swelling feet, feel sweaty, fatigue, and even have psychological troubles such as insomnia. This is normal for all women during pregnancy. The body is working hard to create a healthy baby and as it grows it shifts its position (preparing for birth) and puts stress on the woman's back. With a poor diet, the woman will feel fatigue and become constipated if she does not drink enough fluids daily. No one said pregnancy would be easy, but it is a 9 month miracle to see how a body undergoes these changes to bring new life into the world, at least, that is how I see it. Again, I say every woman who becomes pregnant, regardless of any "special needs" feels this- just like your mother and mine. A sick mother: If a mother is ill during pregnancy, it is severe, but not severe enough for abortion. Like all illnesses such as the flu, vaccines can be given out and if she takes care of the situation before it gets out of hand, relatively severe problems should not occur. Birth Defect Children: People don't want to have children with birth defects, such as cleft lip, underdeveloped organs/limbs, ect. It is emotionally difficult to dealt with, however, it can be done. With the medical technology we have in this generation, than chances of a birth defect child surviving are unmatched by previous generations. If a family is unable to gain access to technology, it is still proven a child with birth defects (depending on which) can survive- it just takes a few more precautions to raise than a healthy baby. Children with cleft lip have a hard time eating, so the for them to starve and die before they reach 2 years of age are a higher risk than children without cleft lip. However if the mother takes precautions to feeding the baby, he / she can survive and grow to be relatively happy and healthy. Conjoined twins have also been known to have high survival ratings, again, if precautions are taken carefully. Even if they may have minor disabilities, they are still able to survive. --- Aftermath of abortion: According to law (in some countries), doctors are no longer allowed to tell their patients of the risks of abortion. This causes a severe problem if the abortion is preformed. An abortion (preformed by a physician or by any other person by any method)can cause reproductive harm to the woman. She could become diseased from an abortion and even become barren (unable to have children). Psychologically, a woman and/or her partner (or rapists but he may or many not exactly informed of the woman's activity) are very likely to feel immense guilt after having one or multiple abortions (not automatically but as time continues. Statistically, 70% or so of the women who got an abortion feel relieved, then again, stats are skewered because the women got the abortion with attentions of relief. However, within the course of 10 to 30 years, many cases have reverted to misery. It's rather unfortunate to see such unhappy women.) Again, I know I cannot end abortion globally, but I do believe health factors should be given out. Misc Overpopulation myth: Some people chose to get an abortion simply because there are too many people in the world. True, there are over 1-2 billion in some nations alone, but that doesn't mean every country like that. As some countries face birth rate increases, others are facing severe birth rate decreases. (Decrease in Fertility rate confirmed in 1998) 15 countries worldwide have a higher death rate than birth rate, coming from southern Asia, northern and western Europe, and the Caribbeans, and pacific (such as New Zealand and Australia). 51 countries (of 185) are unable to replenish their populations, due to the fact the statistics of children per woman is less than 2.1(which I will round to two because its impossible to have a fraction of a child.) With the increasing use of contraceptives, competition, and the "aid"of abortion, the populations will most likely continue to decrease, demographic experts warn. Many on the first world countries are either having 2 children per household (keeping the population stable) or having 1 - 0 chidlren (meaning population decline) Those that fit under this category are the United states and the majority of Europe. Only in Asia is there a population hike, but only in the rural nations. It is actually rather interesting to study from a sociological perspective. Alternatives Adoption. (As explained previously). Babies are, infact, our future. Now, I'm not trying to criminalize abortions (Even though I do think it is completely unethical). I'm trying to spread awareness to it. Even if abortion has become such a freedom that people can get it without begin asked both psychological and heath questions, I know that means not everyone will get one. For that, I am thankful. So I just hope to say that I hope to lessen the statistics of abortions preformed yearly, monthly, daily. In general, getting abortion stops the existence of the child, but it doesn't necessarily mean that it never existed. Thank you for reading this. You're also entitled to an opinion. I would like to say that everyone is entitled to their opinion. If you do not necessarily agree with me, I understand and accept that because that is your philosophy. Mine differs and I do pray that you can accept that as well. Thank you. ---- further reading: [link] |
